In 2010, I began working independently as a technology consultant and founded LifeWithTech as a place to explain emerging technology in practical language. The two efforts shared a goal: help people make informed decisions without making the technology feel harder than it needed to be.
Turning technical work into useful guidance
The consulting practice focused on research, implementation, testing, and support for early-stage technology work. LifeWithTech gave me a public way to turn the same habits into news, tutorials, reviews, security notes, and do-it-yourself projects.
This chapter merges two source entries dated the same day: one for becoming self-employed and one for founding LifeWithTech. Keeping them together makes the relationship between the professional practice and the publication clearer without importing accomplishments from later years into the 2010 milestone.
