Buying Our First Home

Purchasing our first home in 1999 began a longer journey that would eventually include a year-long construction project.

On May 31, 1999, we purchased our first home in Los Angeles. It was a major step in building a life after moving from Brooklyn earlier that year.

At the time, the house was a single-story property. We later undertook a major construction project that lasted about a year and was completed in 2001.

Buying the house and rebuilding it were separate milestones: the first gave us a place of our own, and the second transformed that place into the home we had imagined.
