A West Hollywood venue needed a dependable Oscars program feed for an on-site watch party. Our team arrived early to build the reception, connectivity, and audio-video handoff before guests gathered for the evening.
Connecting the venue
The setup combined satellite reception with a multi-SIM cellular router to support the event's viewing and communication needs. The incoming program source then had to be converted and handed to the venue's audio-video team as SDI so it could be distributed through the local system.
The physical layout mattered as much as the signal path. Equipment positioned outside and in the parking area had to support viewing spaces elsewhere in the venue, so the team coordinated cable routes, handoff points, timing, and audio coverage before doors opened.
A coordinated handoff
My contribution was part of a larger event workflow that included the venue's technicians and production staff. Clear boundaries between reception, conversion, and house distribution helped each group verify its portion of the chain.
The assignment was a useful reminder that reliable event technology is often about interfaces between teams. A well-defined handoff can make a mixed system of broadcast, network, and venue equipment operate as one experience for the audience.
