I joined SetNet as IT Manager in 2016. Over the next six years, my work connected the company's everyday technology operations with the specialized data and communication needs of production crews.
Turning one-off solutions into repeatable workflows
Productions often arrived with different cameras, locations, schedules, and handoff requirements. I collaborated with filmmakers and technicians to understand the immediate need, test an approach, and document what the team could reuse on the next project.
That work included data-management services, remote-production experiments, equipment tracking, project-management practices, training, and standard operating procedures. The lasting value came from connecting the tools to a workflow people could understand and support.
Leading through changing production needs
When production practices changed during the pandemic, the team expanded its use of remote monitoring and control. My contribution focused on testing, implementation, documentation, and support while recognizing that the resulting systems were a shared effort across production, engineering, and management.
This chapter deliberately leaves out private client information, credentials, network diagrams, financial commentary, and claims that cannot be independently verified. It records the scope of my role and the problem-solving habits that carried into my later consulting work.
