In August 2023, my eldest son, Joshua, began college at Glendale Community College. It was an exciting milestone for our family and one of those moments that made the passage from childhood toward independence feel very real.
At the time, he was especially interested in writing and art. College offered room to explore those interests, build new skills, and discover how his creative goals might develop without requiring every answer at the beginning.
Supporting the next chapter
My role as a parent was changing too. The work was less about directing each step and more about being available with encouragement, practical help, perspective, and the occasional technology fix when it was needed.
This chapter is not a prediction about the career he will choose or the person he will become. It marks the beginning of a college journey and the pride we felt in seeing Joshua take that step.
