Inside the MHSOAC: Behind-the-Scenes of Mental Health Oversight

I recently had the privilege of serving as the Director at the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC) corporate meeting held at the Omni Hotel in Los Angeles. It was a dynamic two-day event filled with challenges, teamwork, and moments of growth.

Preparation and Challenges: The event began with a load-in day, where we encountered some logistical hurdles, including minor delays and last-minute adjustments. Despite these challenges, my role primarily focused on overseeing multiple cameras and ensuring each shot was framed effectively. Additionally, I took responsibility for ISO recordings of the cameras to capture essential moments throughout the event.

On the Day: During the shoot day, I actively monitored multiple cameras, choosing the framing for each shot to ensure optimal visual representation. Simultaneously, I pushed feeds and slides to Zoom, ensuring seamless integration between our live event and remote participants. Furthermore, I maintained a second ear on audio, ensuring clarity and consistency throughout the event.

Team Efforts: While each team member played a vital role, my responsibilities centered around the technical aspects of the production. From monitoring audio levels to coordinating camera angles, I ensured that every element of the event contributed to its overall success.

Feedback and Evaluation: Following the event, we conducted a comprehensive review of our team's performance. Feedback highlighted the effectiveness of my role in managing the technical aspects of the production, particularly in ensuring smooth transitions between camera feeds and slides.

Lessons Learned and Moving Forward: As the Director, I gained valuable insights into the importance of proactive problem-solving and effective communication. Moving forward, I will continue to refine my skills in managing multiple cameras and coordinating technical aspects to further enhance the quality of our events.

Conclusion: Despite the challenges we faced, the MHSOAC corporate meeting was a valuable experience that highlighted the importance of technical proficiency and adaptability in event management. I am confident that with continued dedication and refinement of our processes, we will deliver even better experiences for future events.
